Prof. Dr. Nur Keyder completed her middle school and high school education at TED Ankara College, and her final year of high school at George Washington Senior High School, where she studied through the AFS program. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Department of Economics at METU and her master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied on a Fulbright Scholarship. She earned her PhD from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University. She carried out part of her doctoral dissertation research at the LSE, where she went on a United Nations Fellowship. Between 1962 and 1964, she worked as a research assistant at The University of Texas. After returning to Turkey in 1966, she began working as a lecturer in the Department of Economics at METU. She became an Assistant Professor in 1976. After serving as a faculty member in the United States between 1979 and 1984, she returned to METU in 1984. She became an Associate Professor in 1986 and a Professor in 1992. She retired in 2004 and began taking an interest in photography after 2010.
